In a church full of joy and chanting, His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, the Pope and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark and the head of the Coptic Church, ordained Fr. Daniel Abdelmaseih as a priest for St. Mark's of Jersey City, the oldest Coptic Church in the United States. His Holiness was accompanied by H.G. Pisenti, Bishop of Helwan, H.G. Bishop Boutros, H.G. Bishop Macarius, H.G. Bishop Youannes, Secretary of His Holiness, H.G. David, General Bishop of North America, and H.G. Youssef, Bishop of Bolivia. Over three hundred of the church's congregation attended this momentous occasion listening joyously to His Holiness Pope Shenouda as he instructed the new priest for the care of the congregation and made everyone laugh with his unique sense of humor.
Fr. Daniel Abdelmaseih is the third priest at St. Mark's and will be serving with Hegumen Fr. Abraam Sleman and Rev. Fr. Markos Ayoub. The newly ordained Fr. Daniel will spend his first forty days in the Monastery of St. Pishoy in Wadi ElNatroun Egypt, where he will receive the rites of the Divine Liturgy and the Holy Sacraments and prepare himself for service.
May the God of heavens keep for us the life of H.H. Pope Shenouda III for many years and peaceful times.
